We are runners, planners, project managers and a calm, friendly voice at the end of the phone.

We are here to help you solve your race or event problems and take away the strain that comes with event management. Founded in 2013, Front Runner Events has a small but dedicated team that are experienced in organising and hosting some of the best mass participation events across South Wales.

We have a hunger and enthusiasm for all things running, a keen interest in sport and encouraging healthy lifestyles.

Based in South Wales, we pride ourselves on delivering high calibre running events that are fun, friendly and inclusive.

Our aim is to deliver what we promise and give our participants, sponsors and partners a great experience that will live long in the memory.

Our Team

David Martin-Jewell
David Martin-Jewell

David is the Managing Director of the company and Race Director for all of our self-delivered events and Event Director for our partner events. David is responsible for the strategy, corporate strategic partnerships and sponsorship and overall event delivery within the company. A keen runner with over 20 years of project management experience, including a BSc (Hons) in Construction and Project Management, David enjoys the challenges of pulling together the planning and logistics for the events, as well as the dynamic experience of event weekend.

Tash Smith
Tash Smith

Tash is the Director of Customer Experience at Front Runner Events and Race Director at all of our self-delivered events and for our partner events. Tash took up running in 2014 following the announcement of Swansea’s first half marathon, several half marathons and marathons later Tash is still an avid runner. Tash joined the company in 2016 and is responsible for overseeing customer experience, charity partnerships, event registration, and supporting the Managing Director in his duties.

Nick Francis
Nick Francis

Nick co-founded Swansea Half Marathon along with David in 2014, since that time he has seen the company evolve into what it is today and although it remains a small but dynamic team he remains to be the lead in overseeing the operations and logistics of each event. This involves everything race and event related and includes all stages of event management from the planning to implementation of each event. Whether it be race route planning, event build, co-ordinating volunteer and crew, to race village design, he plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth ‘running’ on race day. Nick is an experienced long distance runner, dog lover and fitness fanatic.

Emma Martin-Jewell
Emma Martin-Jewell

Emma is the marketing director at Front Runner Events, she deals with the advertising, public relations, communications and marketing strategy. She helped set the company up with David and Nick and has enjoyed seeing the business grow and develop over the years. She also took up running as a result of working with team which has helped her gain a greater understanding of the expectation of our event participants making our team a truly grassroots organisation.

Stephanie Hole
Stephanie Hole

Steph is the event manager for Front Runner Events. Steph joined the company at the start of April 2019 as a university placement student, and was successful in receiving a part-time job with the company whilst completing her studies of Event Management. Steph is responsible for event security, overseeing entrant data, graphic designs, as well as supporting both the Managing Director & Director of Customer Experience.

Elliott Martin-Jewell
Elliott Martin-Jewell

Elliott joined the team full time at the beginning of 2023 and has quickly established himself as core member of the team. He brings enthusiasm and positivity to every event and goes the extra mile to ensure our runners have an excellent race day experience.

To support our staff we have a dedicated events crew who have a wealth of experience that help us deliver and run our events throughout the year.

Our crew play an essential role at Front Runner Events and form part of our extended family, maintaining high standards, helping the team deliver professional and outstanding events.
