The family-run, small business, and event organisers to some of the biggest running events in Wales appoints Tash Smith as the director of customer experience. This appointment will create a female-heavy management structure to the company that employs a mixture of full and part time staff. Tash, who joined the company in 2016 and has been involved in all aspects of the company, from event delivery, through to the registration, social media and everything in between!

Front Runner Events was founded by David Martin-Jewell and Nick Francis in 2013. The following year, the inaugural Swansea Half Marathon was held in July 2014. Tash took up running that very same year, following the announcement of Swansea’s first half marathon and several races later, Tash remains an avid runner!

Having recently become a mum last year, Tash returned to work this week and is excited on the new appointment and what the future holds for the business. Although her role has changed over the years, her experience and depth of knowledge of operations is second-to-none.

I’ve been fortunate to have not only witnessed many of my friends in their moment of glory crossing the finish line, but to have also trained with them, participated in the races (during the early days) and seen tens of thousands of people raise funds for charities and good causes.”

The team at Front Runner Events will host a series of races this year including the recent Llanelli 10K & Half Marathon last month, the Great Welsh Marathon and Half Marathon next Sunday in Pembrey Country Park, as well as the Gorseinon 10K & 2K fun run in May and Swansea Half Marathon, new city 5 miler and family fun run in June.
